CUT-A-THON VIC RAO FUNDRAISER

CUT A THON FOR VIC RAO FUNDRAISER
On November 13th, 2012 At THE HILTON GARDEN
Starting at 5pm! Join us that day and come and get a
Haircut aand take part in the Chinese Auction or the 50/50 raffles!
All proceeds going to the Vic Rao Recovery Fund!
Staten Island Community is coming together with over 30 Salons
in participation for this event! Many things unite us all.
Coming together as a community for the Rao Family
is one them! Sadly on February 17th, 2012 Victor and Wilma Rao
were on their way to pick up their 13 year old daughter
when Christopher Chin, an allegedly intoxicated ex-convict
blew through a stop sign at 75 MPH and collided with the
Rao's small sedan. Victor was critically injured. He is
partially paralyzed on his right side and blind in his left eye
and he can barely speak. All his ribs are broken and his pelvis
shattered. Their world has been turned upside down at the hands of a
reckless and UNINSURED DRIVER! The medical costs they are incurring are
enormous. Their medical insurance will only cover part of their
medical expenses! They stand to lose everything!
The SI Community is coming together with Family and Friends and Clients
to hold this fundraiser to help offset their medical costs!
So come out and get yourself a HAIRCUT, MASSAGE, OR A FACIAL!
All proceeds will go the Vic Rao Recovery Fund!
Thanks for your generosity and your participation in helping
The Rao family!
Sincerely,
Stacey Carmona

Ombre Highlights

A huge trend happening in hair right now is called "ombre" highlights.  The term ombre is a term that was used by the French in fashion to describe fabric that had been dyed to create a gradient from light to dark.  Now the hair color explosion is seen almost everywhere and in many variations.  Here are some different variations.

Drew Barrymore
Rachel Bilson
Some people prefer to go all in and do a harsh gradient giving a lot of contrast between the root area and the ends of the hair.  This is great for that edgy chick who likes to get noticed.  The thing about the harsh ombre is that rather than having your hair color accentuate your skin tone and features,  everyone will be noticing your hair before they notice you.  Of course if you are a super model or actress blessed with beautiful everything this really doesn't matter but for real people in the world, this might not be such a good look.  Drew Barrymore's ombre shows you exactly what I mean.  The color is too harsh for her skin tone making her look less than her best.  If you have more color to your skin, the harsh ombre might suit you better as it does for Rachel Bilson.

Julia Roberts
Ashley Tisdale
I would prefer Drew with a more subtle ombre.  Something that looks like it may have actually been achieved more by the sun and not by the bottle.  Julia Roberts nails a nice, subtle, yet noticeable ombre color.  It goes great with her skin tone and people will say that she looks beautiful rather than commenting on her hair right off the bat.  You want to wear your hair, not your hair to wear you. Julia Roberts has very unique features that with the wrong hairstyle, could be looked at in a negative way.  Her hair is always on point.  I must say I have never seen her go wrong unless the part she is playing calls for it.  If she had the harsh ombre, I don't think I would notice how beautiful her face is.  Ashley Tisdale rocks the natural ombre too.

But hey, different strokes for different folks they say.  If you are really adventurous you can do the harsh reverse ombre.  This would mean having super light roots and super dark ends.  Beware, it could end up looking like you just need a color touch up in the worst way.  I kind of have something like this in a more subtle way and achieved through low lights and having the underneath of my hair (the neck, nape, area) colored dark while the rest of my hair is blonde.  I like the reverse ombre to be subtle too.  Remember, just because you see it in a gorgeous, photoshopped photo of a model, doesn't mean it is good and practical for everyday wear.  Some styles are better left in pictures and not in the street.  =)
